Do you know what LED LightStim Therapy is?

Some know, but many people have never even heard of it. I’m Gina a level 3 Esthetician at Elements of Style Spa, and in this article, I’m going to walk you through what LightStim Therapy is, how it works and where it originated from.

LED stands for light emitting diode, which is a tiny computer chip encased in glass. These lights work very much like photosynthesis.

Just like plants absorb light from the sun and convert it to energy, our skin absorbs light from these devices and converts it to energy for our bodies to use!

LightStim delivers therapeutic, UV-free light rays that energize the cells. This stimulates our body’s natural process to build new proteins and regenerate cells. This therapy is noninvasive, painless, and requires no recovery time. It’s perfect to add on to your facial, especially when having a peel performed, because it helps the skin recover more quickly. The LED lights give off a nice relaxing warmth. All LightStim devices are FDA approved and safe to use at home. I use mine while I’m relaxing watching TV, or laying in bed listening to an audio book.

What's the difference between LightStim for Acne and LightStim for ...

Each device uses different wavelengths (or colors) of light that provide different benefits:

Infrared/Deep Infrared is invisible to the naked eye. If your device has infrared it will look like the bulb is not lighting up when in fact, you just can’t see it. It helps to reduce inflammation, accelerating healing.
Blue Light destroys P. Acne bacteria which is responsible for so many cases of pustules. It can help ease existing breakouts and help lessen the chances of new breakouts happening.
Amber Light is anti-aging and helps to repair collagen and elastin, natural building blocks of our skin that our body slowly stops producing.
Red Light helps to reduce inflammation and promote circulation. It also encourages deeper product penetration, which makes LightStim great for at-home use or as an add-on to a Facial.

LED Light Therapy has been around for more than 20 years and Dermatologists have been taking advantage of its healing properties. There are many clinical studies that have been conducted to determine the effectiveness. LightStim has done their own studies as well.

LightStim performed an 8 week study of 40 participants who used their device a minimum of 5 days a week. Every participant had a visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It has been proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase blood circulation, help smooth the texture of your skin, reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, heal and calm existing breakouts, and restore your skin’s healthy appearance.

One of my favorite things about this amazing technology is that it was originally used by NASA in the mid 90’s for medical purposes such as wound healing, and cell growth! I’ve been using my LightStim for Wrinkles 4-6 days a week for almost a month now, and have seen what I think are pretty great results.

We have three different LightStim handheld devices. LightStim for Wrinkles helps to reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. It really helps to nourish your skin from within as the light wavelengths penetrate the skins surface helping your skin to maintain its youthful appearance. LightStim Anti-Aging light has 72 LED’s in four wavelengths of Amber 605nm , Red 630 nm, Dark Red 660 nm, an Infrared 855nm. We also have LightStim for Acne which uses blue and red light with a total of 36 LED’s. This device is FDA approved to treat mild to moderate acne. Blue light kills the P. Acne bacteria while the red light helps soothe inflammation associated with acne.

To use these first two devices, place the light gently in the area to be treated for 3 minutes before moving to the next area, and repeat until the entire affected area has been treated.

LightStim for Pain can temporarily help reduce arthritic pain and stiffness, relieve minor muscle and joint pain and temporarily increase local blood circulation. When blood circulation is increased it helps to start the body’s own pain relieving process. This device uses four different wavelengths of light. Infrared, deep red, light red and deep infrared. Place in the area you are experiencing pain and hold for 5-30 min. You can repeat as often as necessary.

When using your device always cleanse and tone your skin first, LightStim comes with a serum you can apply. Once applied if you are using LightStim for Acne or Wrinkles you simply turn on your device and hold on the skin for three minutes. Then move on to another area. When you are finished go ahead with the rest of your skincare routine. LightStim does caution that you do not hold directly over your eye socket and to close your eye on the side of the face that you are treating.

All it takes to clean your LightStim is a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and just wipe gently over the bulbs. I know I’ve seen a difference in my skin since I started using my Lightstim for Wrinkles. The two before and after pictures are of my own skin, I’ll admit it’s me😀. Two areas that that are problematic for me are my eye area(all around) and the corners of my mouth. I think the pictures show a great difference in the before and after. I highly recommend these devices to all my clients because they are simple to use and I’ve seen great results with them.
